Mike Doyle
Famed for his show stopping sense of humour and powerful voice, Mike Doyle is an
acclaimed star of HTV, BBC Wales, on radio and in the theatre. His sell out one
man shows play to theatres all over the UK and in Europe. There is a lot more to
Mike than you think – since winning Opportunity Knocks in 1988 he has become one
of the most multi talented performers in the UK appearing on numerous television
series and programmes including the Royal Variety Show, Des O’Connor Show, Celebrity
Squares and the Generation Game. He received Stage Comedy Newcomer of the Year at
the British Comedy Awards and had his own network series for both BBC, ‘Something
for the Weekend’, and for HTV ‘The Mike Doyle Show’. In London’s West End Mike
received great critical acclaim for this larger than life portrayal of the Big Bopper
in ‘Buddy’ at the Victoria Place and Vince Fontaine and Teen Angel in ‘Grease’ at
the Dominion Theatre. In 2005 Mike was the first ever artist to appear on the P
& O luxury £350m super liner Arcadia and performs regularly, as a headline act for
the Cunard Line, on the new Queen Mary II and also for Crystal Cruises, Fred Olsen
Lines and Carnival. Mike continued this year booked for a glittering worldwide summer
season with P& O Cruises, performing on all their luxury super liners as wells a
the USA’s top international super liners. 2009 is due to be spectacularly busy with
Mike’s diary almost fully booked. In 2007 directed by Michael Bogdanov Mike was
cast in the lead, as Tommy Farr, in Mal Pope’s ‘The Contender’, to great acclaim.
A documentary crew followed Mike’s journey in his preparation for this demanding
role, from a boxing gym in Swansea to the staging of the show. The documentary was
broadcast on BBC Wales following the tour of the production. Mike is very much a

Mike Doyle has appeared many times at Swansea Grand Theatre, including five pantomimes, Aladdin in 2006/07, Jack and the Beanstalk in 2004/05, Cinderella in 2003/04, Peter Pan in 2001/02 and Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs in 2000/01. His one man shows there have been very popular also. Mike is a highly likable performer is tremendously talented and appeals to all ages, who could forget his adverts for Trade Centre Wales on Television and Radio (tell them Trevor sent you!) In 1991 he performed at The Royal Variety Performance in front of Her Majesty The Queen.
